Engine & Tanker to Felton - 8873 Burnite Mill Road

Earlier this morning, as Hurricane Irene was leaving the area drenched in water and leaves, Kent Center alerted Station 48 (Felton) for a report of a working fire on the outskirts of town. As 48 units arrived they found heavy fire conditions in two adjoining buildings with exposure to a third. Command 48 requested an additional tanker to the scene. At this time Kent Center alerted Station 55 for a tanker company assist. Crews from both in the station and from home response quickly staffed the appropriate units, with Engine 55-3 responding with a full crew (5) and the Deputy Chief (T. Stratton) and Tanker 55 responding with 2. Units arrived on scene and assisted Station 48 with suppression and overhaul, with the Tanker supplying Felton’s engines. Units operated until released by Command 48. Units Responding: Engine 55-3, Tanker 55, Engines 48-4, 48-2, Rescue 48-1, Tanker 48-5, DSFP & DSFM.
