Fatal Fire - Magnolia, DE
Wednesday, December 12, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that the Magnolia VFC reports a fatal fire within our community overnight on December 12th - 13th. Volunteer firefighters from Magnolia, Camden-Wyoming, and Little Creek were dispatched at 10:44PM and arrived on scene to find a fully-involved trailer home with several residents injured and one who regrettably had not escaped from the structure. Firefighters remained on scene extinguishing the fire and assisting the Fire Marshal for more than three hours. Our thoughts go out to the family, as well as the neighbors and firefighters affected by this incident. While the State Fire Marshal's Office continues its investigation, the MVFC would like to remind everyone to please ensure you have working smoke detectors in your homes, replace the batteries every six months, be sure to have an emergency escape plan in place for your family, and practice the plan with your children. If you need assistance with any of these items, the MVFC or your local Fire Company can help.
