First Due Working Fire with Mayday
Sunday, October 25, 2020

On October 25, 2020, the Magnolia Fire Company along with neighboring departments were dispatched to a house fire in the 1100 block of W. Birdie Lane in the Jonathan's Landing development. Deputy Chief Ryan Buff arrived first on scene and advised units of smoke showing from the attic area of a two story house. Engine 55-4 arrived moments later, stretched an attack line, and worked to make entry into the house. Units from both Magnolia and neighboring departments arrived minutes later and worked to contain the fire on both floors of the home. During fire supression operations, one member from a neighboring department fell through the first floor, thus summoning a mayday. The firefighter was rescued and evaluated on scene for injuries. Crews operated for just over 3 hours before being released. The scene was turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal's office for further investigation. The Magnolia Fire Company would like to extend its thank you to the Camden-Wyoming, Little Creek, Dover, and Bowers Fire Companies who assisted on scene and to the Frederica Fire Company for standing by in our firehouse with an engine while we operated on scene.
