Firefighters make quick stop of bedroom fire
Wednesday, May 3, 2023

Just after 22:30, a box alarm was transmitted for a house fire in the 1000 block of W. Birdie Lane in the Jonathan’s Landing development in our first due. The initial report stated that neighbors heard the smoke detectors going off in the house and could see smoke and flames. Command 55 arrived with smoke showing from the roof and ordered Engine 55 to pick up the hydrant on the way in and also advised that forcible entry will be needed. Engine 55 dropped a supply line from the hydrant a few houses from the fire building, assumed the first due engine assignment upon arrival, and stretch one of their 200' bumper lines. Tower 41 arrived simetaneously with Engine 55, assumed the first due special service assignment, forced entry for Engine 55's crew, and performed searches which all came back negative. A second line was deployed off of Engine 55 by the crew of Squad 54 while Rescue 55's crew laddered all sides of the building. Other units assisted on scene with overhaul. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is currently investigating this fire. Deputy Chief Thomas Stoltz Sr. had Magnolia Command.

Thank you to the Camden-Wyoming, Little Creek, Frederica Fire Companies, and the Dover AFB Fire Department for their assistance on scene.
