Neighbor extinguishes deck fire in the Reserve of Chestnut Ridge

Earlier today, Magnolia firefighters along with units from Camden-Wyoming, Little Creek, Frederica, Felton, and Dover AFB responded to a reported house fire in the Reserve of Chestnut Ridge development. While responding, Kent Center advised that multiple calls were received for a deck on fire, extending into the residence. Upon arrival of Captain Rob Helmer Jr., an extinguished fire was found in the rear of the residence due to the quick actions of a neighbor utilizing a garden hose, extinguishing the fire. Engine 55 arrived and utilized their booster line to overhaul while other units on scene checked of extension. There were no reported injuries. Second Assistant Chief Eric Neeld had Magnolia Command.
