VETERAN’S STATUS: Herb has served honorably in the US Army as a Medic at the rank of Sergeant. Herb has served as a ranking officer for Third, Second, and First Assistant Chief, as well as Fire Chief. Administratively, he has served as President and Financial Secretary. He was a member of the Budget committee and an instrumental part in assisting with setting up the first active budget for the company. He has been an active driver of Fire Apparatus and Ambulance Units for a number of years. He has served as a company voting representative of the KCVFA meetings for a number of consecutive years. He was named "Outstanding Firefighter of the Year for 1964 and 1976. Herb had held the highest number of alarm responses for a number of years as well.
